Death of Mr. JOEL HORWOOD We have this morning to record, with regret, the decease of Mr. Joel Horwood, of the firm ot Horwood & Sons, iron founders, which took place at his residence, Hindley Street, early on Wednesday, May 18. Mr. Horwood was a colonist of many years' standing, having arrived here intheship Baboo, in December, 1848. During this time he succeeded in establishing a business of considerable importance to the colony, and one of his sons has now charge of a large branch establishment at Bendigo, in Victoria. The deceased gentleman has also occupied a public position inthe city, having been a Town Councillor for some time, during which he discharged the duties of the office to the satisfaction of his constituents. For 18 months past he has been the subject of a lingering complaint— chronic disease of the liver-which terminated his life at the age of 64 years.
