NOTTLE, Thomas Mr. Thomas Nottle, who died at Nhill, Victoria, at the age of 80 years, was a pioneer of the Netherby district. He was born at Alternun, Cornwall, and, with his parents came to Port Adelaide in the Pakenham. He was employed by the late Mr. Ford of the Reedbeds, and then with the late Mr. Mitchell on Gawler River. He afterwards engaged in farming near Riverton. He was married at Auburn, and his wife died in 1906. He was once a well-known carrier on the Burra roads. In 1891 he purchased land at Netherby, Victoria, and resided in the district until his death. He took much interest in public affairs, and was highly respected. The family are: — Mrs. George Sambell (Netherby), Mrs. S. Jenkins (Booleroo Centre), Mrs. J. Lang (Capel, W.A.), Mr. W. T. Nottle (Kilkenny), and Mr. A. A. Nottle (Netherby).

NOYE, Thomas Sir. Thomas Noye, a well-known retired educationalist, died suddenly in Adelaide on December 6, at the age of 77 years. He was born in Cornwall, and at three years of age came to South Australia with his father. The family first resided at Strathalbyn. The late Mr. Noye first desired to become a pharmaceutist, but later lie turned his attention to school teaching. He rose rapidly in the service of the Education Department. He had charge of the Willunga School for 13 years, and thence he was removed to Payneham, where he remained for 11 years. Subsequently he was headmaster of the Glenelg School, from which position he retired after 18½ years, having reached the age limit. In the districts in which Mr. Noye was stationed, and particularly at Glenelg, he rendered yeoman educational service. He was a man of outstanding scholastic attainment. He frequently lectured before the Lothian, Dual, and .Tollman Clubs, and the Caledonian Society. Mr. Noye had one of the finest private libraries to be to be seen in Australia, and was preparing a work on psychology. He was of a retiring disposition. In his younger days he was a cricketer. He was a member of the Methodist Church, and he was organist at Willunga for some time. The deceased compiled several books on grammar, which are now in use in the public schools of some of the Australian States. For the past two years lie had resided at Grace street, Goodwood. He has left a widow, three sons (Mr. V. Noye, of Adelaide, and Messrs. U. and T. Noye, of Western Australia), and three daughters (Mesdames Y. K. Gould and G. Naucanow, and Miss Noye).
