We regret to announce the death of Mr. Wm. Mahood, sen., which took place at his residence Cue Hill, on Tuesday afternoon, from general break up of the system brought on by a cold. Mr. Mahood who was 79 years of age, was a very old colonist of South Australia, having arrived in that colony in 1840, and took up land at Gumeracha and finally settled in the district of Light. He was one of the first to go overland to the Victorian diggings in 1851, and also to the Gympie (Queensland) diggings in 1869. For the past 14 years Mr. Mahood's sight failed him, and for seven years he has been totally blind. He leaves a widow and grown up family, Mr. S.A. Mahood of Lennonville being the eldest, and Trooper William Mahood of the W.A. Bushman\s contingent being his second son. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon and was largely attended.
